Still adjusting to Arizona after living near an ocean for most of her life, Alessondra “Sondy” Springmann loves saguaro cacti, the laid-back vibe and strong sense of community in Tucson, and the spectacular Sonoran Desert sunsets.  She spent two years working at Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, finding asteroids before they find us. When she’s not finishing her PhD in planetary sciences or making astronomy a more inclusive and welcoming working environment, Sondy herds cats, hikes, sews too many face masks, and schemes about organizing events once it’s safe(r) to gather in person.
